Villa, Lake Zurich

Multi-facetted living
Year constructed: 2012

The newly constructed villa with its ventilated natural stone façade is closed off from the street, opening up to the lake by means of a large panoramic window. The impressive cubic building features elegant design and restrained grace.
From the outset of the planning process for this single-family dwelling, the owner stipulated her specific wishes for the interior of her dream home. As a result, the house’s personality is shaped by its multi-level complexity, featuring a floor for the children and a separate floor for living and eating. A well-conceived detail makes the children's floor a highlight: the central location of the built-in cruciform cupboards creates a contact point for the three children in the house. This permits a kind of "supply hub" that makes it possible to deliver clothing or other items to the surrounding children's rooms from the centre of the house. The sophisticated lighting concept makes the long, white cupboard walls appear to float.
