UNDERSTATED ELEGANCE. A beautiful 1800 m2 property and a fantastic view right at the heart of a neighborhood of single-family residences marked the point of departure for this ambitious project. Understatement, clarity, elegance – it was these terms that, in essence, defined the design. The rooms are laid out over two floors. The lower living level accommodates the hall, the kitchen and the dining area as well as a spacious living room; the upper level contains the bedrooms and the study. The covered exterior lounge area is formed by the cantilevered volume. In the morning, sunlight is directed from the side of the building facing the hillside across an atrium to the living room and bedrooms. The choice of materials also reflects a certain understatement – the building being covered in dark sheet metal. The spacious, gently undulating garden forms a contrast to, and at the same time an integrated whole with, the concrete body.
