The building's typology took shape in response to the client's desire and as a result of the analysis of the property: A two-story, pavilion-like house including a courtyard/patio and a breathtaking view of the surrounding lake, mountain ranges and city, anchored to the hillside, and floating above Lake Zurich on the downhill side. The courtyard/patio provides daylight and serves as both day room and eye-catcher of the entire upper floor. Furthermore, it is from there that a flight of stairs leads to the roof with its even more magnificant rooftop terrace. The building's lower level has a flexible floor plan, taking into account the building's long life cycle. All rooms offer ample space, 2.75m ceiling height and natural lighting. Interiors are finished in just three materials throughout: limestone, smoked oak and white plaster walls. A special lighting concept lends the entire house an extraordinary atmosphere in the evening, and, in the company of the lights dotting the Lake Zurich shoreline, make it reminiscent of the Californian «Case Study Houses» of the 1950s.
